- Feb 253:00 PMBC-MIT Number Theory SeminarSpeaker: Chen Wan (Rutgers University)Title: Some spherical varieties of Whittaker typeAbstract:In this talk I will discuss a special category of spherical varieties whose $L^2$ space is exactly supported on all the tempered generic representations. Then I will give two families of examples, one from the theory of double flag varieties, and the other one from the theory of Rankin-Selberg integrals. I will also explain how to use this theory to prove the local funcational equations for some Rankin-Selberg integrals. This is an ongoing joint work with Lei Zhang.
