- Feb 253:00 PMBC-MIT Number Theory SeminarSpeaker: Chen Wan (Rutgers University)Title: Some spherical varieties of Whittaker typeAbstract:In this talk I will discuss a special category of spherical varieties whose $L^2$ space is exactly supported on all the tempered generic representations. Then I will give two families of examples, one from the theory of double flag varieties, and the other one from the theory of Rankin-Selberg integrals. I will also explain how to use this theory to prove the local funcational equations for some Rankin-Selberg integrals. This is an ongoing joint work with Lei Zhang.
- Feb 253:00 PMHarvard–MIT Algebraic Geometry SeminarSpeaker: Ajith Urundolil Kumaran (MIT)Title: Refined tropical curve counting with descendantsAbstract:We introduce the enumerative geometry of curves in the algebraic torus $(\mathbb{C}^\ast)^2$. We show that a certain class of invariants associated with moduli spaces of curves in $(\mathbb{C}^\ast)^2$ can be calculated explicitly using a refined tropical correspondence theorem. If time permits we will explain how the proof relies on higher double ramification cycles and work of Buryak-Rossi on integrable systems on the moduli space of curves. This is joint work with Patrick Kennedy-Hunt and Qaasim Shafi.
